Groovy day in Khajuraho

My insurers would have shit a bear. There I was bumping along an Indian dirt road on the back of a motorcycle with no helmet with the wind whipping through my hair. My sights were set on getting a ruby ring resized before a day of playing tourist.

As days go, it was pretty sweet. We spent some time goggling at the naughty erotic carvings of the "Kamasutra" temples of Khajuraho. The temples themselves are architecturally gorgeous and the divine dancing beauties are beautifully wrought but, of course, the sexy ones get all the attention. They were pretty stimulating. I also learned that a deep belly button is a sign of sexiness. Guess I did get some benefit from my abdominal surgery after all. You could lose a compact car in my navel.

After temples and lunch (grilled vegetables with Gorgonzola. Yum!) we went off to Panna Tiger Reserve and drove around taking in lovely vistas. We were lucky enough to have some deer come very close and walk amongst us at a stop area and we very excitedly watched a leopard doing big cats things i.e. sitting, standing, blinking. There were peacocks, crocodiles, a serpent eagle, kingfishers and something we thought was a brown pissing owl which was actually a brown fishing owl. We liked our name better.

Goats. I saw goats in coats.

It was a pretty groovy day all in all. Unfortunately now I seem to have a wretched cold complete with coughing and running tap nose. Today we are moving to a small village where I will be staying in a room in a family's home without my travelling companions. The family is just going to love having a germ factory in their guest room.

If you're ever in Khajuraho check out Hotel Isabel Palace. The service is amazing and they grow their own organic food in their garden.
